Weapon – Oathtaker

Here is another item I have converted over to Pathfinder 2 from the Jade Regent Adventure Path. It are currently available in all three games.

As part of my conversion process of bringing the Jade Regent over to second edition is to convert the special items from each book.

Tetsubo – Uncommon Item 3

Tetsubo (Also in Converted Weapons)

• Advanced Weapon
• Price: 20 gp (exotic weapon so I left it as an expensive price)
• Damage: 1d10 B (Keeping it on par with other weapons)
• Bulk: 2 Hands: 2 Group: Club
• Weapon Traits: Backswing, Fatal d12, Forceful, Monk

Here are a couple of items I have converted over to Pathfinder 2 from the Jade Regent Adventure Path. They are currently in use in all three games.

Oathtaker – Rare Item 8+

(Magical, Necromancy)

This Large +1 Striking Tetsubo is banded in corroded iron bearing brass studs that are embossed with wicked Tien characters of punishment and pain.

Activate three-action manipulate Effect once per day on a willing subject, bestow a geas on them that the willing subject makes an Oath of service (with exact terms in the Oath). If the oath is ever broken, the subject is cursed with a visible “oathbreaker” in Tien on their forehead (affecting social checks), and gains sickened 1 for each day since they broke the oath. If your sicked value reaches your level it stops increasing, and it remains that way till the next full moon on which your character dies if they have not found a way to atone, remove of the curse or slay the person they made the oath to. A character can be under only one of these Oath’s at a time, and if the person you make the Oath dies, you are no longer bound by the oath. DC to break the oath is 24.

Type Greater Oathtaker Level 13 Price 2,700 gp
The item becomes +2 Greater Striking Tetsubo, can bestow the geas three times per day with a DC 30 to break.

Conversion Details

I have changes the style of Oath from the source material to suit the geas in the first edition, but I also wanted to make it deadlier than just a standard geas.

• base item – Magic Weapon (+1 striking weapon) Level 4 – 100 gp
• – Geas ability as 3rd level ritual using 3rd level wand as example +360 gp
• Total Price 460 gp which falls into the 8th level item category for price.
