Introduction

This is a conceptual post about my journey building a Shadowrun campaign using the Genesys rule systems and how I am planning on introducing it to my players.

This section I am building example characters that may or may not be used in the games ongoing.

Character Concept

Step 1 – Background

Background of Criminal.

Criminal – Your on the run, using an assumed identity.

Step 2 – Race

Background of City Elf.

Elf – City (Gen 2+)

Version 2.0 (Changed with WT, ST becoming average)

  • XP 110 (spent 20 with 90 remaining)
  • Elf
    • Shielded or Nimble (-10 xp) Elves have a melee and ranged defence of 1.
  • Attributes Options – Exchange – Willpower for Agility (-10 xp)
  • General (0 xp) Choose a general skill – Streetwise – Gain 1 Rank (choose one only)

Version 1.0

  • Attributes – 2 in everything except 1 in Will and 3 in Agility, Wounds (11+Br), Strain (8+Will), XP (90)
  • Starting Skills – one rank in Streetwise
  • Nimble – Elves have a melee and ranged defence of 1.
Step 3 – Career & Specialisation
Career – Courier
  • Career Skills – Athletics, Brawl, Charm, Coordination, Driving, Piloting, Stealth and Survival
  • Optional Starting Gear
    • Gen-1+
      • A pistol and durable clothing or concealed Kevlar and a light pistol
      • A modular backpack or a cross body bag and load bearing gear
      • A PAD and smartspecs or a smart phone
    • Gen-4+
      • A synapse pistol and durable clothing or concealed buckyweave and a palm stunner
      • A modular backpack or a cross body bag and load bearing gear

Talents
Black Market Contacts (Active – Incidental – Rank 1) When looking to purchase illegal, exotic, or black market goods, the character may decrease an item’s rarity by one level per rank in Black Market Contacts. For each level an item’s rarity is decreased, its cost increases by 50% of its base cost.
Quickdraw (Incidental) Once per round, you can draw or holster an easily accessible weapon as an incidental instead of a manoeuvre. If an item requires more than one manoeuvre to draw or holster, reduce it by one manoeuvre.
Street Smarts (Passive – Rank 1) On Streetwise or Knowledge Underground checks, remove Setback (Black) dice from check up to rank.
Toughened (Passive – Rank 1) Add +2 to Wound Threshold per Rank.

2x Pistol (Enc 1) and Durable Clothing (+1 soak), smartphone (Enc 0), Backpack (+5 Enc), 2 Slap-Patches, Extra Reload (Enc 1)
