From Age of Rebellion
The dreaded Imperial stormtroopers wear environmentally sealed suits of plastoid armor designed to deflect or negate the damage from incoming attacks. While it does provide quite a bit of protection from concussive damage, light blasters, and shrapnel, laminate armor won’t stop a direct hit from heavier blasters. Suits of laminate armor consist of a number of form-fitted plastoid plates designed to protect important areas worn over a snug, reinforced armorweave body glove. These suits also typically include vision enhancements such as low-light filters, thermal imaging, and image magnification built into the helmet, along with on-board comlinks and environmental and diagnostic systems.
From Edge of the Empire
Imperial stormtroopers wear fully-enclosed plastoid armor that deflects and negates incoming damage. It won’t stop a direct hit from a blaster, but is reasonably effective against indirect concussive damage and shrapnel. It typically includes vision magnification and integrated comlinks to others attuned to the same frequency. As the armor is designed to work with powered systems, it can be easily modified with after-market attachments.
Laminate armor is worn over a tight-fitting body glove. This system offers significant insulation, making it easier to operate in all environments. For extended service in extreme environments, more specialized versions are made.
