Siphon Elemental Lifeforce
- 4th Level Transmutation Spell
- Secret Crafts: Airologist, Darkologist, Earthologist, Elementologist, Fireologist, Waterologist
- Casting time: 1 action
- Range: 90 ft

- Duration: Instantaneous
- You target an elemental effect and reduce the damage of it by 1d6 dice of damage. If it targets a living creature it loses 1d4 of its hit dice and if it fails a Constitution saving throw, it also loses the associated elemental aspect and it does not come back after a long rest. If it does not have an elemental aspect, then it reduces their maximum hit point total by that amount which also does not come back from a long rest.
- For each dice or level removed you gain a point of elemental power. You can then use this power to activate a secret craft ability associated that type of element without having to pay the cost in soul burn (or reducing it if you can only partially pay it). You can also use the power to cast elemental spells associated with its secret craft using one point of power per level of the spell and increase the DC per extra point spent.
- Unlike most other elemental spells, this one works on all elementals, but if you have the secret craft associated with the elemental nature of the creature you can roll two dice instead of one to determine the effects.
- Secret Craft Bonus: If you have advanced in the Elementologist secret craft, you can use this spell to absorb an addition dice for each elemental secret craft you have learnt to combine. If you remove a targets elemental aspect as an elementologist, you can choose to add that aspect to yourself in addition to other aspects you already have or transfer it to another.

Design changes for Spells

- One thing to note, is that all spells that I am adding into this blog have the Spell list removed from them, besides anything I might be doing to tweak them for my home campaign. There is a source there if you want to look up the original version of the spell for your own campaigns, but mine does not need that information.
- What has been added is the Secret Crafts, which replace the spell lists, as all spells not from the players handbook will only be available as part of the secret crafts of the world.

Siphon Elemental Lifeforce
Necromancy [Air, Earth, Fire or Water]
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Medium (100 ft + 10 ft /level)
Effect: Ray of negative energy.
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes
You extend your hands towards any source of magical elements and shoot a ray of negative energy specially tailored to affect that element. If the target is a creature, it must make a Fortitude save or gain 1d4 negative levels as the enervation spell. If it is a static source of magical element, such as a wall of fire, this spell subtracts 1d4 dice of damage it inflicts. For each level or dice subtracted in this manner, you can increase the DC of the next spell you cast by +1.
When you use this spell to siphon energy from magical air, earth, fire or water, it is a spell of that type, and the spell you bolster with this energy also becomes a spell of that type. For example, siphon elemental lifeforce is an earth spell when stealing energy from an earth element, as is the next spell you cast with an increased DC. If the target of the bolstered spell is particularly vulnerable to your spell’s new type, the DC is increased by +2 for each stolen level or subtracted dice, instead of +1.
If you are using the rules for elemental mastery presented in this book, you can choose to have siphon elemental lifeforce provide you with 5 energy points for each stolen level or subtracted damage dice, which you can use in conjunction with any additional energy points in your next turn.
