Dungeons and Dragons – Mystara

Gazetteer #4 – The Known World – The Kingdom of Ierendi

Source: The Kingdom of Ierendi (0e-gaz-04)

This is the fourth in the series of articles about the old Gazetteer series of campaign settings released to the Dungeons and Dragon setting. Here is how I have converted it over to my 5th Edition campaign.

The setting is a tourist resort, or at least has the appearance of one. The leaders of the country are the best male and female fighters in a tournament held every four years and hold the title of King and Queen, but do not have to have anything to do with each other as part of their duties.

The area is a former penal colony so has much humour added to it, where some of it has been turned into tourism.

To some, it is a vacationer’s paradise. Tropical islands, set in a sapphire seas, fringed with shell-covered beaches: the perfect spot to “get away from it all.” To others, it is a place to be feared. Pirates hideaways, disease ridden jungles, psychotic natives: the perfect spot to avoid.

The Kingdom of Ierendi comprises ten islands, each with a specific attraction for the adventure seeking visitor. The native population includes the Makai, the original tribe to inhabit the islands, and various settlers who have chosen these exotic locales as their home (well for some, perhaps “chosen” isn’t quite the proper word…)
